We  represent manufacturing sector and we understand our contribution and responsibility in creating a better future. We plan our activities taking into account the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.

At "Kauno Grūdai," we implement the sustainability initiative "4 Hearts" across the entire Akola group. Each heart symbolizes four sustainability areas - economic, social, environmental, and governance.

Environmental area

In order to save our "warming" planet, the EU has set a green course to achieve climate neutrality by 2050 while ensuring economic sustainability. This field encompasses the conservation of natural resources, reduction of environmental pollution, and waste management within the scope of our operations.

Every company's activities have a varying impact on the environment, with key goals in this area including reducing CO2 emissions, lowering energy consumption, transitioning to renewable energy sources, and improving waste and resource efficiency, recycling, and reuse.

We adhere to all applicable environmental laws and regulations to minimize our negative impact on the environment. We contribute to environmental protection by promoting efficient practices and the use of pollution-reducing tools. You can read AB "Kauno grūdai's" environmental protection policy here:

Social area

This area encompasses a positive impact on society and the world, starting with good working conditions and ending with the well-being of the communities that surround us. No business can operate without people. The company's success directly depends on them.
Therefore, the key internal goals in this area are caring for employees, their well-being, health, and safety, ensuring fair and ethical conduct, equality, and diversity. Ethical and honest behavior with customers, partners, and suppliers is important externally. A sustainable and responsible relationship with local communities and social partners. The service or production offered should not harm public health or safety.

Governance area

The governance field includes directions in business ethics, transparency, accountability, and anti-corruption efforts. Key highlights include how the company makes decisions, how it is managed, and how it builds relationships with partners. Good governance helps maintain and improve the company's reputation among employees, shareholders, potential investors, customers, and partners. The main goals are a high internal culture, business ethics, transparency, and accountability.

Economic area

The economic sustainability field encompasses sustainable economic growth, where efforts to maximize long-term value do not have a negative impact on the environment. In the long term, the group of companies will pursue strategic diversification of activities, focusing on activities that create additional value.
