AB "Kauno grūdai" has signed a 17 million Euro contract with AB "Panevėžio statybos trestas" for the construction of a new production facility in Alytus. The total area of the industrial building will be 7.4 thousand square meters, with an expected completion time of 11 months from the contract signing date.

The facility will include production and storage spaces, as well as residential, dining, and recreational areas. The construction project also entails arranging access roads, conducting landscaping, installing parking lots, pedestrian paths adapted for people with disabilities, and more.

As previously announced, the company is expanding its fast-food business and investing 32 million euros in a new production facility in Alytus. This marks the second fast-food factory of the company in Alytus.

According to Andrius Pranckevičius, the CEO of AB "Kauno grūdai," the existing factories are already producing the maximum possible quantities of products, and the investments are necessary to meet the needs of current and future customers. He commented at the beginning of the year, "The export volumes of 'Kauno grūdai' are constantly increasing, and we export about 96 percent of our production. At the moment, we have already fully utilized all available production capacities, so as the demand for this production continues to grow, we see opportunities for expansion."

Currently, the company operates two fast-food factories in Kėdainiai and Alytus. The Alytus factory, in operation since 2019, produces approximately 120 million units of fast-food pasta in cups annually. The Kėdainiai fast-food factory, operating since 2011, produces and sells 105 million units of fast-food pasta in packets and 40 million units of fast-food porridge in cups annually.

It is planned that the new factory in Alytus will produce about 240 million units of fast-food products per year – 120 million units of fast-food pasta in cups (pasta and porridge) and 120 million units of fast-food pasta in packets. With the start of operations, the factory is expected to create around 250-300 new jobs.
